What the WR12 finish does not tell you

Jameson Williams finished as the twelfth receiver in fantasy last season with 219.9 PPR points across 17 games. That line makes him sound like a steady weekly contributor. He was not that player.

He posted seven games under 10 PPR points and only three games over 20, with a weekly standard deviation of 8.7 that ranked among the most volatile profiles at his position. His ceiling week was 26.9 in Week 13. His floor was a zero in Week 7. The season average of 12.9 points per game is the blend of boom performances and disappearing acts.

The efficiency is legitimate — he ranked sixth or better in yards per reception in each of the past two seasons and he cleared his receiving-yards prop by 216 yards — but it arrives in bunches rather than in a smooth distribution. He is a field-stretcher playing next to Amon-Ra St. Brown, which means game script determines whether he gets six targets or fourteen.

The season average of 12.9 points per game is the blend of boom performances and disappearing acts, and drafting the average means accepting the range.

The drop rate is not a small problem

Williams led the NFL with eight drops in 2025 despite catching only 65 passes. That is a drop rate above 10%, and it sits alongside just eight career end zone targets across two full seasons. The combination means he converts volume inefficiently in the two areas that matter most: catch rate and red-zone usage.

The sportsbooks have adjusted. His 2026 receiving-yards line is posted at 900, nearly identical to the 900.5 he beat last year, but his receptions projection has dropped from 66.08 to 60. The market is pricing in the same yardage on fewer catches, which is another way of saying it expects the drops to continue.
