Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 27, 2026

At The Betting Insider, operated by Insider Sports Inc, we are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your information. This Privacy Policy explains in detail how we collect, use, disclose, store, and protect your personal information when you access our website (thebettinginsider.com), our iOS mobile application (available on the Apple App Store), our optional browser extension, our APIs, and all related platforms and services (collectively, the “Services”). This policy applies to all users across all platforms. By using our Services, you consent to the data practices described in this Privacy Policy. Please read Section 8 carefully, as it explains how your tracked betting performance becomes visible to other users.

1. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us, information that is automatically collected when you use our Services, and information we may receive from third parties. The types of information we collect include:

Personal Information: When you create an account, subscribe to our Services, or contact us, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, billing address, and any other information you choose to provide. Payment information (credit card numbers, bank details) is processed securely by our third-party payment processors (Stripe for web, Apple for App Store purchases) and is never stored on our servers.

Account and Authentication Data: We use Clerk, a third-party authentication provider, to manage your account. We collect and store your Clerk user ID, email address, display name, profile image URL, account creation date, last active date, subscription status, and authentication tokens. Your password is managed by Clerk and is never stored in our databases in any form.

Subscription and Transaction Data: We store your subscription status, plan and tier, entitlement records, billing history, payment processor customer identifiers (Stripe customer ID, RevenueCat subscriber ID, Apple original transaction ID and product ID), purchase history, and promotional and trial eligibility state. We do not store full credit card numbers or bank account details.

Credits, Packs, and Virtual Item Data: We maintain a ledger of your virtual currency balances and activity. This includes your Credit balances, every credit and debit applied to them with the reason (such as purchase, promotional grant, referral reward, Pack opening, or Builder spin), your Pack grants and openings and the builds you received, and the builds you hold, save, gift, or receive as gifts.

Builder and Build Data: When you use the Builder we store the builds you create and save, including their filters and conditions, name, description, sport and market, computed historical metrics and grades, and your usage of them over time. We also store which builds you have viewed, unlocked, saved, forked, shared, or gifted, and any share links you generate.

Performance Rewards Data (Insider Pro): If you are an Insider Pro subscriber, we compute and store reward cycle records in order to operate the Profit Shield and Performance Rewards program. Each record includes your cycle dates and Apple renewal date, your Apple original transaction ID and product ID, your qualifying pick count, average odds, ROI, net units, and win, loss, and push counts, the reward tier earned, and the status and timestamps of any claim. These records are retained as the definitive account of the program for you.

Profile, Social, and Community Data: If you use our social and community features, we collect the username, display name, profile photo, and biography you choose, along with your follows and followers, blocks and reports you submit, your reactions and comments, the content of any messages or posts you make, and any picks or builds you choose to share. Your tracked betting performance is visible to other users by default. See Section 8 for full details.

Direct Message Content and Metadata: If you use direct messaging, we store the full content of your messages together with metadata including sender and recipient identifiers, timestamps, read and delivery state, any attached pick or build references, and conversation and request state. Messages are not end-to-end encrypted and are stored on our servers in readable form. See Section 8.

Bet Tracking and Sportsbook Connection Data: If you use our pick-tracking tools, we collect the bets, picks, builds, stakes, odds, selections, event references, results, grading outcomes, and notes you enter or import, along with the time at which each pick was recorded. If you connect a sportsbook or prediction-market account to sync your activity, related credentials or tokens are handled as described in Section 9, and imported activity is associated with your account.

Mentorship Application and Program Data: If you apply for or purchase mentorship, we collect the information you submit in the application, which may include your name, email, phone number, self-reported age range, location, experience level, sports and markets of interest, typical stake sizes and bankroll information, betting history and goals, and free-text responses. We also store your purchase, session quota, booking activity, and correspondence. You should provide only the financial detail you are comfortable sharing; this information is used to evaluate fit and to deliver coaching, and is treated as confidential.

Phone Number: If you provide a phone number (for example, for account verification, SMS updates you opt into, a mentorship application, or certain sportsbook connection flows), we collect and store it. SMS messages are sent only where you have opted in.

Device and Push Notification Data (iOS App): When you enable push notifications on our iOS app, we collect your Apple Push Notification service (APNs) device token, device type, app version, and time zone, and associate them with your account. This data is used to deliver push notifications you have opted into, including pick alerts, signal changes, market movements, social activity such as new followers and messages, and Profit Shield cycle and claim reminders. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

Notification Preferences: We store your notification preference settings, including which sports, analysts, signal types, social events, and program events you wish to receive alerts for. These preferences are fully user-controlled.

Usage and Technical Information (Web): When you access our website, we automatically collect technical information including your IP address, browser type and version, device type and operating system, referring website addresses, pages viewed, time spent on pages, clickstream data, access times, and other usage statistics through cookies, web beacons, log files, analytics tools, and similar tracking technologies.

Usage and Analytics Information (iOS App): When you use our iOS app, we collect device model, operating system version, app version, session duration, screen views, and feature usage patterns through analytics tools including Mixpanel. This activity is associated with your account and user ID.

Advertising and Attribution Identifiers: With your permission (requested through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS), we collect the Apple Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA) and share advertising and conversion events (such as installs and subscriptions) with advertising partners, including Meta (Facebook), to measure and improve the effectiveness of our advertising. On the web, we use analytics and advertising technologies including Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, and an X (Twitter) conversion pixel. We also use attribution parameters and referral cookies that may process your IP address and campaign parameters to attribute installs, referrals, and marketing sources. If you deny the App Tracking Transparency prompt, we do not use the IDFA to track you. See Section 7 for the full list of advertising, analytics, and attribution partners.

Referral and Affiliate Data: If you participate in our referral or affiliate program, we collect your referral code, referral events (signups, installs, subscriptions attributed to your code), milestone and reward records, commission data, and payout information (processed through Stripe Connect for affiliates, which may require identity and tax information collected directly by Stripe).

Support and Correspondence: When you contact us through our contact page, by email, or through in-product support, we collect the content of your message, your contact details, and any information you choose to include, along with our responses.

Third-Party Integration Data: If you choose to connect your Discord account, we collect your Discord username and user ID to provide community access and send optional notifications. This connection is entirely voluntary. If you use our browser extension to connect an ESPN fantasy league, see Section 19.

Location Information: We may collect general location information based on your IP address to provide localized content, comply with applicable laws, and determine jurisdictional eligibility. We do not collect precise GPS location data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • Service Delivery: To process transactions, manage subscriptions and entitlements, provide access to purchased services and digital content, authenticate your identity, and deliver the features and functionality of our Services across web and mobile platforms
  • Virtual Economy Operation: To maintain your Credit balances and ledgers, deliver and record Pack openings, determine Pack contents, apply Builder spin allowances, process gifts, and detect and prevent abuse of Credits, Packs, drops, and referral rewards
  • Performance Rewards: To operate the Profit Shield and Performance Rewards program, including evaluating your tracked picks against the qualification rules, computing your cycle ROI and average odds, determining and delivering reward eligibility, notifying you of claim windows, and investigating suspected abuse of the program
  • Builder and Backtesting: To evaluate the builds you create against our historical datasets, compute and refresh performance metrics and grades, track builds over time, and surface relevant builds to you
  • Push Notifications: To deliver pick alerts, signal change notifications, market movement updates, social activity alerts, and reward cycle and claim reminders to your device based on your notification preferences
  • Communication: To send transactional and service-related communications, including access instructions, account updates, subscription confirmations, billing receipts, SMS messages you opt into, mentorship scheduling and correspondence, and responses to your inquiries
  • Social and Community Features: To operate profiles, leaderboards, follows, feeds, shared picks and builds, direct messaging, and gifting, and to compute and display the performance metrics described in Section 8
  • Safety, Moderation, and Trust: To review reports of abusive, harassing, illegal, or otherwise objectionable content or conduct, to enforce our Terms of Service, to operate blocking and reporting tools, and to protect users. This may involve reviewing the content of messages or posts that are reported to us or that we otherwise have reason to investigate
  • Mentorship Delivery: To evaluate applications, schedule and deliver coaching sessions, tailor session content, and administer bundled product access
  • Advertising and Measurement: To promote our Services and measure the effectiveness of our marketing, including through advertising and attribution partners such as Meta, Google, and X (Twitter). On iOS, advertising identifiers are used for this purpose only with your consent via the App Tracking Transparency prompt
  • Service Improvement: To analyze usage patterns (including via Mixpanel and Google Analytics), understand how our Services are used, identify trends, improve our website and app, develop new features, and enhance the overall user experience
  • Personalization: To customize your experience, provide personalized content and sport-specific data, and tailor our Services to your preferences
  • Security and Fraud Prevention: To protect the security of our Services, detect and prevent fraud, multi-account abuse, unauthorized access, chargebacks, exploitation of defects, and other illegal activities
  • Referral and Affiliate Programs: To track referral attributions, calculate commission earnings, process affiliate payouts, reverse rewards on refunded or fraudulent transactions, and manage reward distributions
  • Legal Compliance: To comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and government requests, and to protect our rights, property, and safety

We do not use your personal information to make automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects, other than the rule-based eligibility determinations of the Performance Rewards program described above, which you can review in your Profit Shield dashboard and query with us.

3. Data Storage and Infrastructure

Your data is stored and processed across the following infrastructure providers, each with specific roles:

  • Supabase (PostgreSQL): Application database hosted in the United States. Stores user accounts, subscription data, notification preferences, device tokens, community messages, referral data, and saved configurations. Supabase provides row-level security, encryption at rest, and encrypted connections.
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS): Our API backend (api.thebettinginsider.com) runs on AWS in the United States, using PostgreSQL and ElastiCache (Redis) for real-time odds delivery, saved builds, Builder backtesting, pick tracking, Credit and Pack ledgers, reward cycle records, and social and messaging features. AWS Lambda processes sports-data pipelines. Personal data stored here includes your authenticated user ID and the picks, builds, ledger entries, reward cycles, profile, and message data associated with your account.
  • ClickHouse: Analytics database used for sports data and historical datasets (games, players, teams, box scores, prop consensus, market data, analyst picks). Not used to store personal information beyond basic pick and account associations.
  • Clerk: Authentication provider. Manages user identity, login credentials (passwords are hashed and stored by Clerk, not by us), session tokens, and authentication state. Clerk is SOC 2 Type II compliant.
  • Stripe: Payment processor for web subscriptions, Credit purchases, mentorship, and affiliate payouts via Stripe Connect. We receive only customer IDs and transaction metadata — we never see or store full card numbers. Stripe is PCI DSS Level 1 compliant.
  • RevenueCat: Manages Apple App Store subscriptions and in-app purchases. Receives your Clerk user ID and app user ID to manage subscription entitlements and to signal purchases that grant Credits or open reward cycles.
  • Mixpanel: Product analytics for our iOS app. Receives your user ID, email, and usage events to help us understand feature usage and improve the app.
  • Vercel: Hosts our website and web API routes. May log IP addresses and request metadata for security and performance purposes.
  • AI Providers: Anthropic and, where applicable, OpenAI process the inputs required to generate game scripts, written analysis, and other generated content. See Section 10.
  • Communications Providers: Mailmodo for email delivery, Twilio for opt-in SMS, and Apple Push Notification service for push notifications.
  • Scheduling: A third-party scheduling provider is used to book mentorship sessions and receives the name, email, and booking details you provide at booking.

All data transfers between our systems and third-party services are encrypted using TLS/SSL. All databases use encryption at rest.

4. Sharing and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell your personal information for money. However, our use of advertising and analytics partners (described in Section 7) may constitute “sharing” or a “sale” of certain identifiers under some state privacy laws. We may share your information in the following circumstances:

  • Other Users: Information you make public or share through social features, and your tracked betting performance metrics, are visible to other users as described in Section 8. This is the most significant category of disclosure for most users.
  • Service Providers: We share information with trusted third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf. These include: Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payment processing and affiliate payouts), RevenueCat (App Store subscription management), Supabase and AWS (data storage and APIs), ClickHouse (analytics), Vercel (hosting), Apple (push notifications via APNs), Anthropic and OpenAI (AI content generation), Mailmodo (email delivery), Twilio (SMS delivery for opt-in messages), and our scheduling provider (mentorship bookings). Each provider is contractually obligated to use your information only for the purposes we specify.
  • Advertising, Analytics, and Attribution Partners: We share certain identifiers and activity data (such as the IDFA where you have consented, event data, and IP address) with advertising, analytics, and attribution partners including Meta (Facebook), Google (Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics), X (Twitter), and Mixpanel, to measure and improve our advertising and understand product usage. See Section 7 and Section 12 for your choices and opt-out rights.
  • Sports Data Providers: We receive data from and interact with sports data and odds providers including odds feed providers, sports statistics providers, DFS and prediction-market sources, and ESPN. These interactions generally involve sports data, not your personal information.
  • Apple: For App Store subscriptions and in-app purchases, Apple processes your payment and receives transaction data in accordance with Apple's privacy policy. We provide Apple, through RevenueCat, with the identifiers necessary to deliver Performance Rewards promotional offers to your Apple ID.
  • Discord: If you choose to connect your Discord account, we share your membership status with Discord to assign community roles. This is voluntary.
  • Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, bankruptcy, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
  • Legal Requirements and Safety: We may disclose your information, including the content of direct messages, if required by law, regulation, legal process, or government request, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to investigate a report, enforce our Terms of Service, prevent fraud, or protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, our company, or the public.
  • With Your Consent: We may share your information with your explicit consent or at your direction.
  • Aggregated or Anonymized Data: We may share aggregated, anonymized, or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you.

5. Data Security

We take the security of your personal information seriously and implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards:

  • All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL
  • Sensitive data is encrypted at rest in all databases
  • Passwords are managed by Clerk using industry-standard hashing algorithms — we never store passwords
  • Payment information is handled by PCI DSS-compliant processors (Stripe, Apple) — we never store card numbers
  • Sportsbook and prediction-market connection credentials are handled as described in Section 9. Where credentials are held on your device, they are stored in the device keychain and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers
  • Where a connection provider requires server-side tokens, those tokens are stored encrypted at rest and are never returned to any client
  • Database access is restricted with role-based access controls and API key authentication, and access to production data by our personnel is limited to those who need it
  • Push notification device tokens are stored securely and associated only with authenticated accounts
  • We conduct regular security reviews of our infrastructure and third-party integrations

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. If we become aware of a security breach, we will notify affected users and relevant authorities as required by applicable law.

6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies (Web)

On our website, we use cookies, web beacons, pixels, and similar tracking technologies for the following purposes:

  • Essential Cookies: Required for authentication, security, session management, and basic website functionality
  • Analytics: Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics help us understand how visitors use our website and measure performance
  • Advertising and Conversion: An X (Twitter) conversion pixel and similar advertising technologies help us measure the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns
  • Attribution: A referral-source cookie and campaign parameters in links help us attribute signups and marketing sources
  • Functional: Remember your preferences, settings, and limited free-usage counts to provide a consistent experience

You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them, though blocking essential cookies will prevent you from signing in. To opt out of the sharing of identifiers with advertising partners, contact us using the request described in Section 12; we process these requests manually. Our iOS app does not use browser cookies; app-based tracking and advertising identifiers are governed by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework as described in Section 7.

7. Advertising, Analytics & Attribution Partners

We work with the following partners for advertising, analytics, and attribution. Some of these involve identifiers that certain laws treat as “sharing” or a “sale” of personal information; see Section 12 for your opt-out rights.

  • Meta (Facebook): Our iOS app includes the Meta SDK to measure ad conversions and support advertising. Where you consent via App Tracking Transparency, this may use the IDFA and share conversion events with Meta.
  • Apple App Tracking Transparency (ATT): On supported iOS versions we present Apple's tracking prompt. If you allow tracking, we may use the IDFA for advertising measurement; if you deny it, we do not use the IDFA to track you.
  • Mixpanel: Product analytics in our iOS app, tied to your user ID, to understand feature usage. Not used for cross-app advertising.
  • Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics: Website analytics measuring pageviews and interactions, and management of our website tags.
  • X (Twitter) Pixel: Website conversion tracking for advertising campaigns.
  • Referral and Campaign Attribution: We use first-party referral cookies and campaign parameters in links to attribute signups, installs, and marketing sources. This may process your IP address and the campaign parameters present in a link you click.

Your controls: On iOS, decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or change it later in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking, to prevent IDFA-based tracking. On the web, use your browser's cookie controls, and contact us to submit an opt-out request as described in Section 12.

This list may change as we add or remove partners. We will update this section when it does.

8. Social Features, Public Performance Data, and Messaging

Our Services include social and community features: profiles, usernames, following, leaderboards, a picks feed, direct messaging, gifting of builds, sharing of picks and builds, and a public community chat on our website. Availability differs by platform; direct messaging and gifting are currently features of our iOS app.

Your Tracked Betting Performance Is Visible to Other Users by Default. When you record picks using our pick-tracking tools, your aggregate performance — including your record, win percentage, net units, ROI, streaks, and recent picks — becomes visible to other users on leaderboards, on your profile, and in feeds. This happens automatically, without a separate opt-in, and it applies even if you have never created a profile, in which case you may be shown under a system-assigned pseudonymous handle rather than your chosen name. We do not currently provide a setting that removes your performance from leaderboards. If you do not want your betting performance visible to other users, do not use the pick-tracking features. If your performance is already visible and you want it removed, contact us using our contact page and we will handle the request manually.

Profiles: The username, display name, avatar, and biography you choose are visible to other users. Choose a username and biography that you are comfortable having publicly associated with your betting activity, and avoid including your real name, contact details, or other information you do not want disclosed.

Leaderboards and Feeds: Leaderboards rank users by performance over various windows and are visible to other users. Your individual picks may be shown in feeds, including the selection, odds, stake in units, and result.

Follows: Follow relationships are stored and are generally visible, including your follower and following counts and lists.

Shared Picks and Builds: You may share picks or builds publicly or by link. Anyone with a share link can view the shared content without needing an account, so treat share links as public.

Direct Messages Are Private From Other Users, but Not From Us: Other users cannot read your conversations. However, direct messages are not end-to-end encrypted. They travel over encrypted connections and are stored on our servers in readable form, and authorized personnel may access message content where necessary to operate the Services, investigate a report, enforce our Terms, prevent fraud or harm, or comply with a legal obligation. You should not send sensitive personal, financial, credential, or payment information through direct messages. We do not currently offer a feature that removes a message you have sent from another participant's account or device.

Message Requests and Blocking: By default, users who do not follow you cannot place a message directly into your inbox; their messages arrive as requests you may accept or ignore. You can change who may message you in your settings, and you can block a user, which prevents them from messaging you or sending you gifts.

Reports: When you report a message or user, we store the report along with the reported content, the identities of both parties, and the reason you selected, and we use it to review and act on the report. Reports are not anonymous to us. We may retain reports and related content after the underlying content is deleted in order to enforce our Terms and to keep a record of enforcement decisions.

Gifting: When you gift a build, the recipient can see that you sent it and which build it was. Gift records are stored for both users.

Community Chat (Web): Posts in our public community chat are visible to anyone who can view the page, and moderation tools there are more limited than in our iOS app. Do not post anything you would not want publicly associated with you.

Persistence: Content you have made public or shared with other users may be viewed, copied, screenshotted, or retained by them, and may remain in circulation after you delete it, change your settings, or close your account. We cannot retrieve or delete copies held by others.

9. Pick Tracking and Sportsbook Connections

Our pick-tracking tools let you record and analyze your own betting activity, and optionally import it from a supported third-party operator.

  • Tracked Picks: Picks, stakes, odds, selections, results, grading outcomes, and notes you enter or import are associated with your account. They are used to compute the performance metrics described in Section 8, which are visible to other users, and, for Insider Pro subscribers, to evaluate the Performance Rewards program described in Section 1.
  • Connections Where Credentials Stay on Your Device: For certain operators and prediction markets, the connection is made directly from your device. In those cases your credentials or session tokens are stored in your device keychain and are not transmitted to or stored on our servers. We receive only the resulting activity data you choose to import.
  • Connections Through a Third-Party Provider: For certain sportsbook connections we use a third-party connection provider. In those cases the provider handles authentication with your sportsbook according to its own privacy practices, and we store only the identifiers and tokens necessary to retrieve your activity, encrypted at rest on our servers and never returned to any client.
  • Imported Data: Activity imported from a connected account is stored with your account so you can track performance over time. It may be incomplete or differ from your operator's own records.
  • We Never Move Money: These connections are read-only for the purpose of importing your activity. We do not place, modify, or cancel wagers, and we never have authority to move funds.

You can delete tracked picks and disconnect a connected account at any time in the app, subject to the restriction that graded picks cannot be edited or deleted, which exists to preserve the integrity of leaderboards and the Performance Rewards program. Disconnecting an account stops further import and removes the stored connection.

10. AI Features

Our Services include AI-powered features, including AI-generated game scripts, written analysis, projections, and summaries. To provide these features, the relevant inputs and context are processed by third-party AI providers, including Anthropic and, where applicable, OpenAI.

Most of our AI features operate on sports data rather than on your personal information. Where a feature accepts input from you, we do not send your payment card data, sportsbook credentials, or authentication secrets to AI providers, and you should not enter sensitive personal, financial, or credential information into any AI feature. AI-generated content may contain errors, omissions, or fabrications and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any decision. See our Terms of Service for additional disclaimers.

11. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location and applicable laws, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:

  • Access: Request access to the personal information we hold about you
  • Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements and to the limitations described in Section 15
  • Portability: Receive your personal information in a structured, commonly used format
  • Opt-Out of Tracking (iOS): Decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt, or change it later in your device settings, to prevent IDFA-based advertising tracking
  • Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: Opt out of the sharing of identifiers with advertising partners as described in Section 12
  • Opt-Out of Communications: Unsubscribe from marketing emails or SMS using the provided controls or through your account settings
  • Push Notification Controls: Disable or customize push notifications at any time through your device settings or the app's notification preferences
  • Messaging Controls: Change who may message you, and block or report users, in the app
  • Performance Visibility: Stop using pick-tracking features, or contact us to request removal of your performance data from public surfaces. Note that, as described in Section 8, there is currently no self-service setting for this
  • Disconnect Third-Party Accounts: Disconnect your Discord, sportsbook, ESPN, or other linked accounts at any time
  • Account Deletion: Request deletion of your account. In-app account deletion is available in our iOS app where required; you may also request deletion at any time by contacting us

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our contact page. We handle these requests manually and will respond within a reasonable timeframe in accordance with applicable law. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request. You will not be charged and will not receive degraded service for making a request.

12. California Privacy Rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) provides you with the following rights:

  • Right to Know: Request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the business purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
  • Right to Delete: Request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to certain exceptions.
  • Right to Correct: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to Opt-Out of Sale/Sharing: We do not sell your personal information for money. However, our use of advertising and attribution partners (such as Meta, Google, and X) may involve “sharing” identifiers (such as the IDFA and online activity) for cross-context behavioral advertising. You have the right to opt out. To opt out: on iOS, decline the App Tracking Transparency prompt or turn off tracking in your device settings; on the web, contact us through our contact page with the request “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information,” and we will process it manually.
  • Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information: We use sensitive information, such as account login credentials and any financial detail you provide in a mentorship application, only as necessary to provide our Services and for the purposes described in this policy.
  • Right to Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your rights.

Categories of Personal Information Collected: Identifiers (name, email, phone number, IP address, account and device identifiers, advertising identifiers); commercial information (subscription and purchase history, Credit and virtual item ledgers, reward records); internet and app activity (usage, analytics, and clickstream data); geolocation (approximate location inferred from IP address); electronic communications content (direct messages, community posts, support correspondence); professional or financial information you volunteer in a mentorship application; and inferences drawn from the above.

To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us through our contact page with the subject “California Privacy Request.” We will verify your identity and respond within 45 days, with an extension where permitted. Residents of other states with comparable privacy laws may submit the same requests through the same channel, and we will honor them to the extent those laws apply.

13. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) provides you with additional rights. Our legal bases for processing your personal data are:

  • Contract Performance: Processing necessary to provide our Services, including account management, subscription and entitlement delivery, Credit and Pack ledgers, Builder backtesting, operation of the Performance Rewards program, mentorship delivery, and customer support
  • Legitimate Interests: Processing for our legitimate business interests, including product analytics, fraud and abuse prevention, safety and moderation, and service improvement, balanced against your privacy rights
  • Consent: Where you have given us explicit consent, including push notifications, marketing communications, advertising tracking via App Tracking Transparency, and Discord and other optional integrations
  • Legal Obligation: Processing necessary to comply with applicable laws, including tax and financial record-keeping

In addition to the rights described in Section 11, you have the right to withdraw consent at any time, restrict processing, object to processing based on legitimate interests, and lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Your data may be transferred to the United States; where we do so, we rely on appropriate safeguards including standard contractual clauses with our processors where required. By using our Services, you acknowledge this transfer.

14. Children's Privacy

Our Services are not intended for individuals under the age of 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Our Services involve sports betting analytics, and all users must be of legal age to access such content in their jurisdiction. We rely on your representation of your age at registration and do not independently verify it.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe that your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will take steps to terminate the account and delete such information from our systems within a reasonable timeframe.

15. Data Retention and Account Deletion

We retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Privacy Policy:

  • Active Accounts: Account data is retained for the duration of your account and subscription
  • After Account Deletion: Upon a verified account deletion request, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, generally within 30 days, except where retention is required or permitted by law or as described below. Deletion requests are processed manually by our team
  • Transaction and Reward Records: Billing and transaction data may be retained for up to 7 years for tax and legal compliance. Credit ledger entries and Performance Rewards cycle records may be retained on a de-identified basis for the same period, as they are financial records
  • Direct Messages: Messages you delete are removed from your view. Because a conversation has two participants, a message you sent may remain visible to and retained for the recipient. We may also retain messages that are the subject of a report or an investigation for as long as necessary to resolve it and to keep a record of the enforcement decision
  • Reports and Enforcement Records: Reports, blocks, and records of enforcement action may be retained after account deletion to protect other users and enforce our Terms
  • Push Notification Tokens: Device tokens are deleted when you disable notifications, uninstall the app, or delete your account
  • Community and Shared Content: Content you shared publicly or with other users may be retained after account deletion but will be anonymized or dissociated from your identity where reasonably practicable. We cannot recall copies retained by other users
  • Virtual Items: Credit balances, Packs, and build access are forfeited on account closure as described in our Terms of Service. Ledger records of those balances may be retained as financial records
  • Advertising and Analytics Data: Data held by advertising and analytics partners is retained according to their policies; anonymized and aggregated usage analytics may be retained indefinitely
  • Backups: Data may persist in encrypted backups for a limited period after deletion from active systems, after which it is overwritten in the ordinary course

When we no longer need your personal information, we will securely delete or anonymize it. To request deletion, contact us through our contact page.

16. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and other countries where our service providers operate. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. By using our Services, you consent to the transfer of your information to countries outside your country of residence.

We take appropriate safeguards to ensure that your information receives an adequate level of protection, including using service providers that maintain appropriate security certifications and contractual data protection obligations.

17. Third-Party Links and Services

18. Apple App Store Privacy Details

In compliance with Apple's App Store requirements, here is a summary of our data practices for the iOS app. These are reflected in the app's App Store privacy “nutrition label.”

  • Data Linked to You: Email address, name and display name, phone number where provided, user ID and device identifiers, purchase history and subscription status, virtual currency balances and transaction ledgers, tracked pick and betting performance data, saved builds, profile and social graph data, message content, usage and analytics data, and approximate location inferred from IP address
  • Data Used to Track You: With your App Tracking Transparency consent, we use device advertising identifiers (IDFA) and advertising and usage data with partners such as Meta to measure and support advertising. If you decline the prompt, we do not track you using the IDFA.
  • App Tracking Transparency: We present Apple's ATT prompt on supported devices and honor your choice.
  • User-Generated Content and Messaging: Our app includes user-generated content and direct messaging. We provide in-app tools to block users and to report objectionable content, and we act on reports. See Section 8.
  • Randomized In-App Items: Our app offers Packs, which contain randomized digital content. The odds of receiving each grade are disclosed in Section 7 of our Terms of Service and in the app.
  • Account Deletion: You can request deletion of your account and associated data from within the app, or by contacting us through our contact page. See Section 15.
  • Third-Party SDKs: Our app includes Clerk (authentication), RevenueCat (subscription management), Mixpanel (product analytics), and the Meta SDK (advertising measurement).

19. Browser Extension (ESPN Connector)

We offer an optional browser extension, “The Betting Insider – ESPN Connector,” that lets you connect your own ESPN fantasy league to our fantasy rankings tools. The extension is not required to use our Services, and it runs only on espn.com and thebettinginsider.com.

ESPN Authentication Cookies: When you choose to connect a private ESPN league, the extension reads two cookies that ESPN sets on espn.com — “espn_s2” and “SWID” — and only at the moment you click “Fill in information automatically.” These cookies represent your existing ESPN login session. We never request or handle your ESPN username or password.

League Information: The extension reads your ESPN league ID and season from an open ESPN tab so we can identify the league you want to connect.

Draft and Roster Data: While you are drafting, the extension reads the list of players that have been drafted or rostered from the ESPN draft page so our board can mark those players as taken in real time.

How This Data Is Used: This information is transmitted only to The Betting Insider over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection and is used solely to connect and read your own league. Your ESPN cookies are stored encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM), are never displayed back to any web page, and are never sold or shared with third parties.

Your Control: Disconnecting your ESPN league from within The Betting Insider deletes the stored connection and the associated ESPN cookies. Uninstalling the extension stops all access.

20. Financial Operations Data (QuickBooks Online Integration)

Insider Sports Inc uses an internal integration with QuickBooks Online (Intuit) to manage our own business accounting — for internal financial reporting, reconciliation, and analysis of our company's books. This integration accesses our own QuickBooks company data (such as our invoices, bills, transactions, and financial reports). It does not access, use, or expose your personal account information, and it is not part of the consumer-facing Services. Our handling of Intuit and QuickBooks data complies with Intuit's applicable developer and data-use requirements.

21. Changes to This Privacy Policy

When we make material changes, we will update the “Effective Date,” provide notice via email or through our Services, and post the updated policy on this page. Your continued use of our Services after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
