Davante Adams Fantasy Outlook 2026: WR23 On Touchdowns That Cannot Repeat
Adams finished WR9 last season with 14 touchdowns against a 7.5 line, leading all receivers in end zone targets for the third time in six years, but his 789 yards were 161 short of his posted projection.

Why the consensus formed where it did
Our sportsbook-derived board ranks Davante Adams 42 overall and WR23 at his position with 193.0 implied PPR points. ESPN has him 44 and the draft room takes him at 46.1. That alignment exists because all three sources are looking at the same 2025 season and drawing the same conclusion: a WR9 finish built almost entirely on touchdowns is not predictive.
Adams scored 14 touchdowns last season against a posted line of 7.5, leading all receivers with 27 end zone targets. That is not a fluke — it is the third time in six years he has led the position in that category — but it is also the entire reason he finished ninth. He caught 60 passes for 789 yards in 14 games, which means he posted 15.9 points per game almost exclusively because he found the end zone twice as often as the market expected.
The market has now corrected upward to 9.5 touchdowns for 2026, but it has also dropped his yardage projection to 775 and his receptions to 60.5. That is not a projection of improvement. It is a projection of regression to something closer to his actual role, which is second option in an offense that still feeds Puka Nacua first.
A 24% target share with 60 receptions is not the profile of a top-ten receiver. It is the profile of a touchdown-dependent veteran who no longer commands volume between the 20s.
What the yardage and target share reveal
Adams posted a 24% target share in 2025, his lowest since 2016. The sportsbooks had him at 79.55 receptions and 950.5 yards going into the season; he finished with 60 catches and 789 yards. That is not close — he undershot the catch line by nearly 20 and the yardage line by 161 yards.
